| General Manager's Message - 2002 The 75th edition of the Ottawa Valley Farm Show (OVFS) - Ontario's longest running agricultural trade show - March 19-21 is shaping up to be bigger than ever. More than 300 exhibitors will be on hand at Lansdowne Park offering a wide range of equipment and services. This year, the show will move onto the arena floor for a brand new look. The directors of Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association, President Lynda McCuaig, Secretary-Treasurer Mary Joynt, Assistant Sue Pascoe and myself, look forward to seeing you at the show. PARKING: Lansdowne Park management will once again be charging $3 per vehicle to park on the grounds. Exhibitors entering through Gate 5 will be able to purchase a ticket good for one entire day, allowing them to exit and re-enter the grounds any number of times. THERE WILL BE NO FREE PARKING PASSES. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR PERSONAL EXHIBITORS PASSES TO THE SHOW. * CHECK MOVE IN TIMES AND LET US KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY PROBLEMS. FORKLIFT HELP IN EXHIBIT HALLS WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE SUNDAY, MARCH 17. DIRECT QUESTIONS TO: (Percy Belford, 613- 293-6866) ARENA: By taking over the arena in the Civic Centre, we have gained exclusive use of the entire grounds for our show. This will eliminate conflicts with other users and allow more parking for our exhibitors and customers. The arena will be occupied by major equipment dealers and will display a personalized PUG Wilderness II W480 with a Hardi SM50 skid mount sprayer to be raffled off by BASF, no purchase required. PLEASE NOTE: Our show days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday rather than the traditional Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Move in days this year are Sunday, March 17, and Monday, March 18. OFFICIAL OPENING: Everyone is invited to our official opening at 11.30 am Tuesday at the Seed Growers booth in the Aberdeen Building. Guest speaker will be OFA president Jack Wilkinson. Exhibitor Linda Vogel of Vogel Seeds is once again sponsoring cake and coffee. Other speakers will include Eugene Whelan at the Tuesday evening awards banquet and OMAFRA Minister Brian Coburn at the Seed Sale, Thursday in the Aberdeen, 12 noon. MORNING COFFEE: Beginning at 8.30 am every day, we'll have coffee and donuts in each building sponsored by various exhibitors. SPECIAL FEATURES: As usual, the Seed Growers will sponsor several special attractions throughout the show, including presentations on farm equipment and the Highway Traffic Act, the Farm Line free phone help service for rural families, and occupational health information. Features such as the Pedigreed Seed Sale - which over 10 years has raised $35,000 for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario - three livestock auctions, and the Eastern Breeders Inc. Sprung Structure display will be back. In honour of the 75th anniversary, a milk can hand-painted with rural scenes of yesteryear will be auctioned during the Seed Sale.
