Top Hereford female brings $3000
Deep breeding brings good prices

Good cattle consigned from deep within herds brought high prices from a huge crowd gathered for the annual Ottawa Valley Hereford Club Sale at the Ottawa Valley Farm Show Fri., March 16.

The top selling female was Winding River 20X Kate 4K, consigned by Howard Godwin of Metcalfe's MarvelValley Herefords and bought by JDK Polled Herefords, owned by Doug and Donna Keenan of Gloucester. She brought $3000.

Top selling male was SVF Boomer 6K from Mack and Lois James of Spring Valley Farms, Carleton Place, to William Murphy of Kanata, for $1650.

The top selling cow-calf was Sam-n-Sue Z03 Sabrina 12H, consigned by Jack and Frona Price of Sam-n-Sue Herefords, Harrowsmith, which sold for $2275 to Jeff and Sue Morrison of PryceView Farm, Jasper.

Seventeen females brought an average of $1603; five males averaged $1355, and five cow-calves brought an average of $2030 from the large crowd.
